The Olympics are now over and in South Africa is back to parliament. Its gonna be a tough long racial debate that is more likely to affect 2012 Olympics preparation.
To sum it up, we a country of 48 million people, we sent about 134 athletes, with an estimated budget of 64 million Rand, and after 4 years of preparation, we only managed to win one silver medal.
Forget politics; forget load shedding. There is only one explanation; our qualifying standard is not the same as the world-qualifying standard. Usain Bolt won 100m in 9.3 seconds, still South Africa is more likely to send athletes whose best time is 11 seconds to London in 2012. That time doesn’t even win you a bronze.
Norman Dlomo and Hendrick Ramaala said they were not prepared for such a tough race and that the guys were running the world time. Why didn’t they tell us up front so we could send better athletes? Talking about running world time, I mean the Olympic is not a national tournament and Ramaala should know better. I hate people who say they are not prepared after loosing. If you are not prepared tell us on time.
Talking about preparation. We use to participate in regional sports tournament in high school and we normally use to prepare a day or week before the competition. You take position number one on that day you qualify to go and compete with athletes from others provinces. The same thing when preparing for exam, November exam we start preparing in October.
When I said after four years of preparation, it was just about counting from the last Olympics to the next one. You might find that the preparation for the Olympic started mid 2006.
Back home as kids, you would only go to play football outside if you would eat there. That the spirit with South Africa parents. Every time you ask to go and play outside you get threatened with food and not getting the shoes that you have asked for. You find yourself with many family responsibilities in such a way that you don’t even have time to participate in sports. You sneak out, you are more likely to sleep on an empty stomach.
I also wonder how many schools have sport grounds in this country.
Kids love sports with passion but they are never given a chance to display their skills at a young age. People seem very disappointed with the team’s performance but these are the same people who don’t allow their kids to participate in sports because they want them to work in gardens and do all kinds of house work everyday.
Butana Kompela talks a lot but actually does nothing. The only thing he does is to check how many black athletes were selected.
I urge all South Africa parents to hire domestic workers at home if they can’t keep up with the house chores so kids can have time to participate in sports and explore their talents at a young age. To the government, action speaks louder than words.
Maybe we didn’t win because they Olympics were fake, I mean that how we think of Chinese.
London is waiting, go for gold South Africa.

Winning a bronze in Beijing for South Africa is like finding a cure for AIDS
South Africa is yet to win a bronze in this year's Olympics. Maybe load shedding affected the preparations, or maybe Butana Komphela’s black target was not achieved or maybe there was too much political interference.
If Michel Phelps qualifying time was 2 minutes, why do you send someone whose qualifying time was 3 minutes? I mean that is just a waste of time and money. So far, Phelps have won more medals than the whole of Africa.
South Africa believes more in colour than talent.
With 2 million-inflation rate and more regular power cuts, Zimbabwe has already won a silver.
Thank God our country is rich with minerals like gold and diamond, otherwise we were just gonna see bronze on TV.
We are know for all the wrong reasons, like having the highest HIV rate in the world, and having some of the finest criminals this world has ever seen, in terms of both skills and quantity. Maybe its about time we deviate our expertise from bad to good.
Anyway, let us not give up; it took us more than 50 years to achieve democracy. Maybe we need they same amount of time to be more competitive.
Go for Gold Team South Africa.
Cheers

Modern Slaves
Do you remember the days of slavery? People always ask this question as if slavery is the thing of the past.
I always feel very sad reading history books about how blacks suffered during colonisation. Stories about millions of black people who were tortured and killed trying to fight slavery. African leaders who were killed defending their people and countries.
Slavery has now been modernized and structured in such a way that people does not even realise how worse the situation has become compared to they way it was during apartheid and colonisation. This story is not meant to harm, but to create awareness of where we are compared to history.
We are now in another phase of slavery where people seem to be enjoying being slaves. These days’ people fight to become slaves. They send their CVs to become slaves and they even go all the way to strike if they are not made slaves.
We appear to be people who are in a permanent state of mental slavery, a permanent state of begging, a permanent state of whining, and a permanent state of panicking. We have declared ourselves permanent slaves and employees of this world.
I don’t blame it on the lack of skills and knowledge, but on laziness. A skill can be developed and perfected through practice.
We blame the Americans for ignoring us and not making us slaves. Why did we fight for freedom if we cannot survive without the enemies? Thinking too much won’t damage your brain, but it will only make you smarter.
We are easily intimidated by words but handles pain so well when being pushed around by our masters. We feel good around slave masters than around our fellow blacks.
Slavery was a deliberate action, not a mistake, and if an opportunity arises again, the perpetrators would definitely do it again. The purpose of this post is to create awareness of how fresh a black man’s brain is in terms of being utilised.
I would like to engage everybody in this discussion on how slavery has developed into something luxurious to black people. The fact that you are unchained does not mean that you are free. You can only be free if your mind is free. Your mind is free when you can do something for yourself, by yourself.
You won’t touch the freedom until you feel the freedom,
You won’t see the freedom until you feel the freedom,
You don’t have to be told that you are free; you need to feel that you are free.
You don’t need to be convinced that you are free, you need to convince yourself that you are free.
Or maybe you feel that you are free to be slaves.
